Do Not Allow Your Anniversaries To Go To The Dogs

The invitation was really cute with a picture of the happy couple on the front. It showed the pair in matching outfits and they both had a share of a frisbee in their mouth. Our neighbors are keen on celebrating anniversaries and this one was for their identical dogs. It certainly got me thinking about how I celebrate my important anniversaries.

The party turned into a genuine canine caper complete with happy hound decorations. Appetizers were artfully created to simulate a wide array of dog treats. They were served in dog bowls. The banners draped across the room were computer generated art.

I was in the basement family room with the guys and noticed the happy couples domain. They had a huge corner filled with dog decor. It was complete with a portable space heater, a selection of dog clothing, and a foam dog bed. This was the family room and the dogs were definitely family members.

The women universally commented on the dogs having a better anniversary celebration than they experienced. That was the day I started planning for a wedding anniversary. I had nearly a month to make my wife feel as cherished as the neighbors ‘kids’.

I listed my wedding anniversary first. I searched online for creative gift ideas. I researched unique anniversary parties and found that celebrating love can be lavish or on a budget. The celebration can be personal or public. You can plan an intimate occasion for two or include family and friends.

I rented a room attached to our favorite hotel restaurant for the party. I used an online program to create the invitations and even sent an e-vite from my computer with a link to my event. I printed a beautiful poem and copied the lyrics of a love song to the other side. I decorated the ceiling with helium balloons trailing sparkling ribbons.

I combined two ideas. First a romantic dinner with a card, a jewelry item, and a framed photo. The picture was taken in that very restaurant where we had our first dinner date All Those Years ago. Then it was off to the club for dancing but when we arrived all of our family and chosen family was present.

We danced, we toasted, and we watched our old movies using new technology. A computer and projector too us on a journey of our shared life. My wife was transformed into the new bride of yesteryear. We took to the floor for the final dance surrounded by the people we loved the most and she started to thank me. I put my finger up to her lips and said: ‘Stop. You had me at ‘you’ll do”.
