Elvis Presley Is The One True King Of Rock And Roll

It was January 8, 1935 when the record industry was made in Tupelo, Mississippi. That was the moment that Elvis Aaron Presley came into this world. He would grow up to lead the rock and roll revolution and develop into one of the most popular American singers in recording history. Elvis was dubbed the “King of Rock and Roll” and it was a name that was richly deserved.

Sam Phillips, owner of Sun Records, hired a 19 year-old Elvis to record his first record.

At the beginning of the decade, Sam Phillips was struggling to make the songs of urban singers more open to a white audience. Along came Elvis who carried with him a pompadour and attitude. With a little help from famed guitarist Scotty Moore and in demand Bill Black, Elvis turned rockabilly into a popular art form. It took a mixture of heavy backbeat, up tempo, country music and rhythm and blues to produce rockabilly music. Teenagers everywhere ate it up.

One of the original Elvis Presley vinyl hits for Sun Records was close to being forgotten. In between sessions, Elvis started to noodle with the song “That’s Alright Mama”. The band joined in on the fun. That early part of a string of wonderful vinyl records came into being simply because an engineer fired up the recording machine. A passionate collector will rummage around the world over for a Sun Records Elvis LP.

Elvis didn’t stick around Sun Records for long. Due to the broader reach of RCA, Elvis’ manager Colonel Tom Parker thought they should partner up with the new record company. Elvis would stay with RCA for twenty years and produced a broad catalog of vinyl records. His first RCA hit was “Heartbreak Hotel” and was released in 1956. It was at this time that Elvis also made his very first appearance in the movies, starring in Love Me Tender.

It only took a shake from the King to have teenage girls fainting and parents boiling. It was his years in the military which actually made Elvis into an even bigger star. The Colonel didn’t protest and in fact made statements that Elvis should earnestly do his duty. Elvis’ manager pledged there would be many records to sell. After leaving the army, Elvis’ stardom rose again.

He stayed popular until his heartbreaking demise in 1973 at the early age of 42.
